How to make your external NTFS hard disk writable in Mac?

13 sec read

You can only read, but not write to, your external NTFS hard disk? Here is a solution:

1. Go to http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/ and download/install macfuse

2. Go to http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/24481/ntfs-3g and download/install ntfs-3g

3. Restart your computer

Then you can copy files to your NTFS hard disc.

Problem: the speed is slow: ~1M/s.

  1. Thank you :D, it actually worked!! And regarding the slow speed, well copying, pasting, and writing slowly, is better than not doing them at all :D.

  2. Thanks so much for sharing this…

I think I did or didn’t do a certain thing so my xHDD went “Readable Only” in my iMac..
It’s so simple, download, install, read the literatures, or not if you’re a practical person like me, finish, restart your stupid Mac, and voila!

And regarding the speed, I guess it’s quite normal. 6gigs in 6 minutes.. No prob!:D
